The 20th XBRL International Conference to be held in Rome, Italy 20-22 April 2010 at the Sheraton Roma, hosted by XBRL Italy in cooperation with XBRL Europe and XBRL International, is seeking thought leadership for track chairs and co-chairs for the Program Planning Committee. 

The working theme of the Conference is "XBRL:  Linking Businesses, Public Regulators, & Citizens”. The conference will be chaired by Marco Conte of UnionCamere Italy.  This is a very special conference which marks the 10th anniversary of XBRL.  You can be a part of planning this exciting interactive event working directly with XII, XBRL Italy and XBRL Europe leadership. 

The role of the track chair (co-chair) will include developing the overall objectives for the track, identifying key session themes and recruiting selected speakers, preparing a call for presentations to the community, evaluating and selecting requests to present, scheduling sessions within the track and being on-site to host the track. The chairs will be responsible for providing a balanced and international perspective to the track. It is likely the event will include a closing session with a brief report from each track chair presenting an overview of the track highlights and issues identified. 

We are seeking Chairs (Co-Chairs) for the following Tracks:

Assurance Track (1/2 day planned);

Regulators Track (focus split by 1/2 days on Banking, Capital Market Regulation, and Business Registers);

Academic Track (1 day);

Tutorials or Solutions Track (2 days);

Tax Projects Track (1 day);

Advocacy Symposia - How to communicate XBRL to non-technical audiences, How to speak to the press about XBRL – as ideas (1/2 day). 

In addition the Standards and Best Practices Boards of XBRL International will facilitate tracks on their activities and provide forums for interaction with XBRL project participants. The conference will also include a Main stage event with invited speakers. 

Candidates for Chair (Co-Chair) should submit a letter of interest to cherylneal@xbrl.org with a basic biography, track preference, role preference (Chair or Co-Chair – or either) and a brief statement describing your vision/goals for the track.  Candidates will be chosen by the Conference Chair and XII based upon the information submitted and timeliness of response.
