XBRL Finland and Aalto University are once again hosting Innovations in Europe,a nference aimed at advancing the development and use of real-time technologies in the area of financial processes.

Last year marked the start of the annual Real-Time Enomy nference.Our first annual nference gathered together 140participants from 14untries.Discussions then were focused around the themes of real-time acunting,XBRL,and public sector services.From the start we wanted the format of the nference to be based on fruitful discussions led by industry experts.

The theme for this year’s nference is automation.Today,we observe the rapid development in software,hardware and working,revolutionizing the way we live and work.We are witnessing a great societal change,where digitalization is entering all areas of work,previously reserved exclusively to humans.Technologies such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA)are the manifestation of this change,enabling us to automate labor-intensive business processes with ease.

We begin the nference on Thursday (May 26th)with three keynote speeches on Blockchain by Markus Hautala (Tieto),Real-time Reporting by John Turner (XBRL International),and Big Data by Professor Kalle Lyytinen (Case Western Reserve University).On Friday (May 27th),we ntinue the discussion in three tracks:infrastructure and automation,real-time acunting,and research.
