EIOPA has issued guidelines onthe use of the Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) by national petent authoritiesto allow the use of these unique identification de for insurance andreinsurance undertakings acrossEurope. Unlesstheir national regulator advises differently, regulated institutions that needto apply the Solvency II Directive must apply for their LEI(s) by 30 June nextyear. EIOPA also stated its support of the adoption of the LEI as a system for“achieving a unique, worldwide identification of parties to financialtransactions”.
