The New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA),Baruch College and XBRL US,today announced a complimentary,half-day conference,XBRL and Financial Analysis,to be held Wednesday,March 27,2013in New York City.The conference will feature keynote presentations by Agnes Grunfeld,CFA,Managing Director,GMI Ratings,and by Dan Gode,Clinical Associate Professor of Accounting at New York University's Stern School of Business.The program will cover panel sessions on the use of XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language)and how it's changing the way analysts,investors and regulators consume public company information,as well as demonstrations of open source and commercial tools available for use today.

The winner of the XBRL Challenge,an application-building contest for developers,will be announced at the conference.The Grand Prize winner will receive $20,000for developing the best,open-source tool that consumes XBRL corporate SEC data.This event is free to attendees but requires advance registration.

XBRL is a technology standard that makes data computer-readable,more accurate,timely and consistent,thereby changing the way security analysts and data aggregators do business.It is now required for corporate reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)by every US public company and is in use globally as well.This conference will provide analysts and investors a non-technical understanding of how the XBRL standard can make their analysis easier,less expensive,more timely and actionable.
