The European Insurance and Oupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) is currently developing harmonised Solvency II quantitative reporting templates (QRT). Within the spe of this work, EIOPA is also developing the XBRL taxonomy describing the Solvency II reporting in the harmonised data format to be used for the transmission of QRT.

In July, EIOPA launched a technical nsultation on the taxonomy. The nsultation package issued at that time nsisted of:

  • an introductory note;
  • a technical sample; and
  • a template for responses.

EIOPA invited market participants and other interested parties to provide feedback at this early stage while technical choices and solutions within the taxonomy are being developed.

The goal of this technical nsultation is to receive evidence and information for quality assurance of the XBRL taxonomy, identify and mitigate implementation risks (resources, st, time, etc.) and to investigate mechanisms for XBRL taxonomy maintenance.

Responses were requested by 7 September 2011. On 3 August, EIOPA published two related technical descriptions:

  • technical description 1: which describes the structure and the ntents of the XBRL sample taxonomy; and
  • technical description 2: which describes the ntents of the templates and the associated sample instances. It ntains also some explanations about the ntents of XBRL instances.
