The XBRL Japan Educational Working Group has announced the 2nd XBRL Japan Academic Competition to encourage new XBRL software tools and taxonomies. The Group invites researchers, students, software developers, and anyone who is interested in XBRL development to submit implementations of software tools for XBRL documents, definitions of taxonomies, and other useful and effective applications of XBRL. Winning entries will be presented at the XBRL Workshop that will be held at the Tokyo Stock Exchange in March, 2012. The awards include cash prizes of Y100,000 and Y50,000.
Individuals or groups interested in the Competition are encouraged to submit their tools irrespective of the participant's age. The scope of works includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1. New software tools and/or taxonomies;
2. Tools for converting text, Microsoft Word®, PDF, or other format files into XBRL taxonomies and instance documents;
3. Designing taxonomies and implementing a prototype system by development of new-type instance documents for any XBRL-unaware domains; and
4. Any novel tools for XBRL-related application.
