TORONTO, May 9 W/ - This year and early next year after switching to IFRS, over 300 Canadian cross-listed panies are schled to file XBRL with the SEC for fiscal periods ending on or after June 15, 2011. Although the SEC has not yet aepted the IFRS taxonomy, most experts are remending that panies still prepare in advance for filing early in 2012. The U.S. is following many other jurisdictions that have suessfully implemented XBRL around the world. As Canadian public panies plete their IFRS transition, Canadian regulators will most likely begin a dialogue around an XBRL mandate.
Now is the time to get familiar with the IFRS taxonomy and how to use it.
This seminar introduces the XBRL IFRS taxonomy- what it is, how it works, how it is best used. Participants will have a chance to use it in preparing an instance document to help them understand what would be involved in actually preparing and filing regulatory documents. Additional information will be provided on current regulatory rules, the Global Filer Manual and how panies are addressing the issues that arise.
Instructor will be Eric E hen of PwC, a -founder of XBRL and frequent author, speaker and teacher on technical and taxonomy ics for XBRL Canada, XBRL International and XBRL US.
