Call for XBRL Japan Academic Competition
The XBRL Japan Educational Working Group is kindly inviting to submit research papers and/or software tools for presentation at XBRL Workshop which will be held at Tokyo Stock Exchange on March 3, 2010. This Academic Competition celebrates the invaluable contribution of researchers, software developers and anyone who is interested in XBRL development by providing implementations of
software tools for XBRL documents, definitions of taxonomies, and other useful and effective applications of XBRL.

Submission Guidelines
Expected Applicants:
Individuals or groups interested in the Academic Competition are encouraged to submit their excellent tools irrespective of age.
Competitive Works:
For the competition, the scope of works includes, but is not limited to the following:
1. Developing software tools and/or taxonomies
Examples: Implementation of software tools for analyzing financial data based on XBRL documents with associated taxonomies.
2. Proposal of tools for converting into XBRL taxonomies and instance documents from the text, Microsoft® Word®, PDF or other format files.
Examples:
(1) Tools for deriving taxonomy definitions from tabular presentations of PDF documents in supplementary information or footnote section of annual report (public financial report)
(2) Tools for converting formulas and expressions in Microsoft® Excel® into XBRL formula for calculation.
3. Designing taxonomies and implementing a prototype system by development of new type instance documents for any XBRL- unaware domains.
4. Accept any novel proposal for XBRL related tools.
Submission Deadline: January 10, 2011
Submission Instructions:
Applicants should prepare a package containing the following materials, and all of them should be
submitted via E-mail.
?? Application Form (The Form at the bottom)
Fill out all items of the form; with the name of applicant(s), applicants’ affiliations, e-mail addresses, and abstract of the material.
?? Source code of the software tools with manual document that describes the usage of it and the test results. Explanations possibly with test data are required for confirmation and examination of the submitted tool.

Note: The applicants must acknowledge using the submitted material to act about XBRL Japan free of charge. Use it properly with non-commercial ends in XBRL Japan. It is not disturbed that the applicant uses the material concerned for other purposes.

? For one winner in Japan, all travel cost will be paid to attend the XBRL International Conference to be held in Belgium on May 2011.
? For one winner in other countries, all travel cost will be covered to visit the XBRL Japan Symposium held in Tokyo, Japan on March 3, 2011.

The winners will be provided the opportunity to present their work at the plenary session of the XBRL Japan Symposium on March 3, 2011.

They will be provided the opportunity to present their work at the meeting of XBRL Japan.
Evaluation Committee:
The evaluation committee will make efforts to examine every submission work in detail. However, if we need additional reviewers to cope with diversity of submitted works, we will ask well-qualified experts to join the evaluation committee, and publicize their names after examination. The members of the
committee have no interest in the competition.
