SEC Updates XBRL Display Engine; Good Rendering Times Ahead?
Ahead of the start of the June 30th filing season, the first that requires Year 2 detail tagging for the largest SEC registrants, the SEC has updated their SEC Viewer (live XBRL filings made to the SEC) and Pre-Viewer (preview XBRL files prior to live filing) with a new XBRL rendering engine. Details of the new release can be found here, but it looks like the new rendering engine addresses the following display issues:
l Improved handling of mixed data types, units and decimals within the same presentation group
l Updates to Level 4 detail rendering to ensure complete display of all tagged data
l Corrected the currency symbol logic so that non-monetary amounts do not have currency symbols shown
l Updated character encoding to ensure proper display of the Euro and other symbols
l Enhancements to Statement of Stockholders' Equity rendering
The SEC has also continued to make available the underlying source code which means we'll be able to update the Bowne Interactive XBRL Viewer to use this new rendering engine. We'll start working on that and I'll be back in touch next week with some hands-on feedback on this new release. |
