Reflecting on the first three months since the SEC mandate went into effect, the panel will provide valuable insights on the XBRL creation process, best practices, recommendations, and next steps for current and first-time filers.
The SEC approved a tiered timetable last December for the deployment of XBRL, an electronic filing format that facilitates comparative financial analysis. According to the agency's schedule, large accelerated filers with greater than $5 billion in common equity float were obligated to submit XBRL filings to accompany new or updated financials after June 15, 2009. All remaining issuers are to be phased-in over the next two years.
