XBRL US announced that it will hold its annual conference on November 17-18, 2009 at the Marriott Marquis in New York City with a focus on improving communication between public companies and investors through data and technology standards. The conference will be held in association with FEI (Financial Executives International), and will directly follow FEI's conference, "Current Financial Reporting Issues" which runs November 16-17, 2009. Special discounts are available to FEI members. XBRL US will also hold its Annual Meeting for members on November 17.
"This conference comes at a time when hundreds of public companies have begun complying with an SEC mandate for XBRL reporting that starts this summer," said Taylor Hawes, CFO Intellectual Property & Licensing, Microsoft Corporation, and Chair, XBRL US Conference Advisory Committee. "This program will educate company representatives as well as investors and analysts on how to create and analyze XBRL data, the convergence of accounting standards, and most importantly, what lies ahead for public companies with XBRL data."
Highlights about the conference include:
l Keynote presentations by Jamie S. Miller, Vice President and Controller, General Electric Corporation and Donald F. Donahue, Chairman and CEO, The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC)
l Training sessions for preparers on creating XBRL-formatted financial statements, including mapping to US GAAP elements, extensions, rendering and validation. CPE credit is available
l Sessions on data convergence, case studies on US GAAP reporting, analytical tools, internal use of structured data
l Future development in XBRL - corporate actions, proxy statements, mortgage-backed securities
