The International Acunting Standards mittee (IASC) Foundation today announced the release of new support materials specifically developed to aid understanding and use of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Taxonomy 2009.

The IFRS Taxonomy Illustrated presents a simplified view of the IFRS Taxonomy in an easy to read, visual format that does not require knowledge of XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language). It has been specially prepared for acuntants, auditors and those wanting a mprehensive overview of the structure and ntent of the IFRS Taxonomy, in order to promote understanding of the Taxonomy and assist with preparing IFRS financial reports in XBRL format.

To meet the needs of preparers, The IFRS Taxonomy Illustrated has been released in two versions – the Taxonomy anised acrding to financial statements, and the Taxonomy anised by IFRSs.  Both versions are available as free interactive PDFs with links to the electronic IFRSs (eIFRS), and registered IFRS web subscribers can also aess HTML versions. Those wanting a print version can also register their interest.

HTML versions of The IFRS Taxonomy Illustrated have also been released in Arabic and Spanish, with translations into other key languages to be made available over the ming months. This follows the release of the first translations of the IFRS Taxonomy 2009 label linkbases into Arabic and Spanish.

Additional support for those wishing to use the IFRS Taxonomy is available from the IFRS Taxonomy Modules Manager (ITMM), an online tool that guides users through the process of navigating and customising the IFRS modules that make-up the IFRS Taxonomy. Recently-added features enable users to view the IFRS Taxonomy modules in Arabic and Spanish.

The 2009 edition of the IFRS Taxonomy Guide has also been released, ntaining guidance on how to use the IFRS Taxonomy from both an acunting and XBRL technology perspective. Updated from the 2008 edition with new ntent for the IFRS Taxonomy 2009, the guide has been specifically prepared for users of the IFRS Taxonomy who are already familiar with XBRL and who have an understanding of the application of IFRSs in XBRL. This includes preparers and issuers of financial statements using the IFRS Taxonomy to create instance documents, supervisors, regulators and other receivers creating IFRS Taxonomy extensions, and also XBRL-mpliant software developers.

The IFRS Taxonomy Guide is available as a free PDF and also in print format from the IFRS web. Free print pies will be available to delegates attending the 19th XBRL International nference in Paris, 23-25 June 2009.
