Today, February 10 2008, the Official Journal of the Kingdom of Spain has published the Order BOE JUS/206/2009 on filing of annual acunts GAAP 2007, either in XBRL or in paper. Promoted by the Registrars of Spain, now it is mandatory the use of XBRL as the standard FOR SUBMISSION OF FINANCIAL STATEMENTS FOR ALL PANIES, either by presenting physical media (CD/DVD) in the Registrars or by telematic presentation through electronic signature. The presentation will remain on paper so far, using the forms that are published in this Order. See details (in Spanish) at  

It is an important day for XBRL Spain as our standard "has crossed the Rubin" in this point of non-return for massive use, with high levels of utilization probably impossible to achieve by other means. The impact for the first year uld reach 600,000 digital reports, figure that, if reached, would place Spain at the forefront worldwide in the number of XBRL instance documents available as well as the number of entities using XBRL.

The project "Using the XBRL standard in the new GAAP 2007 " is an initiative led by the Institute of Acunting and Audit (ICAC) in operation with INTE, FUNDETEC, panies Registry, XBRL Spain, ERP software developers, financial institutions and other entities. The objective of this project is to promote the adoption and use of the XBRL standard in the new GAAP 2007, replacing the old GAAP dated back 1990.

To achieve this goal, it has undertaken a joint initiative between Red.es, XBRL Spain and INTE to build a whole library of open source API customized for the XBRL taxonomy GAAP 2007. The benefit, in addition to ntributing to the suess of GAAP 2007, is the free use of software for financial statements reporting, minimizing the reporting burden and fostering the smooth update of management/acunting packages to produce XBRL instance documents as an standard exit.

These open source libraries include services related with transformation of a simplified entry to XBRL format, nversion to XBRL standard output format, report display and validation of XBRL reports.  The libraries are available on the Web of INTE: as well as linked at
